Alexander McQueen was known for combining superb tailoring with a dramatic aesthetic inspired by various periods and it's clear this dress is a beautiful nod to gothic-inspired design. The fabrication on this well-documented dress is truly magical; luxurious lightweight black wool crepe bodice with intricate lace chantilly lace panels at the bust and a gorgeous high-low layered sheer lace asymmetrical skirt. The stunning lace inlaid panels are partially lined for a nude illusion panel at the bust, sides, and back. I especially love the lightly padded shoulders and lean, long zipper-wrist sleeves.
