Wearing History #R118- Mid 1930's "Gina Dress" PRINTED Pattern

This listing is for a MAILED, WIDE FORMAT, PRINTED PATTERN. Printed on good quality paper with color cutting lines and packaged in a resealable clear bag.

A Wearing History Resto-Vival™ pattern based on an original historical pattern.

This pattern is for an afternoon or sporty dress from the mid 1930s. View I is accented at the neckline and sleeve with circular ruffles. View II is a sport or casual dress with a very large collar and patch pockets. Both dresses fasten up the front with the use of a vestee to which buttons are attached. The skirt has a pleat at center front and center back.

-- DIFFICULTY--

Intermediate Difficulty. Must be familiar with basic construction and vintage methods. The construction of the yoke and sleeve in one may be challenging for some sewists, as you must gather the bodice to the yoke and turn on the corner to attach the sleeve. A muslin mock up is highly suggested to test construction and fit.

--- SIZING ---

In WOMEN'S sizing. This vintage sizing standard was for a more mature figure. Misses, Petites, Plus Sizes, and Talls may require alteration to fit correctly.

GO BY MEASUREMENTS (IN INCHES), NOT SIZE NUMBER.

Sizing is based on period standards, which are VERY DIFFERENT than modern sizing.

SIZE 32 34 36 38 40 42
BUST 32 34 36 38 40 42
WAIST 26 28 30 33 34 36
HIP 35 37 39 41 43 45

This pattern was originally available in sizes 32"-40" Bust. We have added size 42" bust. New cutting charts and yardage requirements have been made for this pattern based on 45" fabric widths.

--About Wearing History Resto-Vival™ Patterns--

Resto-Vival™ Patterns are original historic patterns that have been restored and revived. Original patterns are usually available only in single sizes, precut from tissue paper and totally unprinted, with details like grainlines and darts indicated only by small perforations. Resto-Vival™ patterns are clearly marked with drawn and labeled markings. These markings aid the modern sewer in understanding the markings of the original pattern and the construction of the garment. Resto-Vival™ patterns follow the period shapes of the original patterns, maintaining the historical accuracy of the completed garment. Original period instructions are included. These instructions are text only (unless otherwise noted) and fairly minimal, especially compared to instructions for modern patterns. At least an intermediate knowledge of dressmaking and a good familiarity with pattern construction is suggested. You may choose to have a modern or period sewing book handy to help with basic construction methods that the pattern instructions do not cover in detail. Also, fitting a muslin mockup is strongly recommended, as all garments were meant to be worn over period foundation garments or corsetry.

Works well. You need to drill a 3/8” hole
Appears to be well made, alignment bar slides in nicely. As stated, you need to drill a hole in the bar for the gimble bearing driver, the directions are not clear, what I did was before I take out the old gimble bearing, put an O ring on the bar close to the last step on the bar, slide the bar all the way in, then carefully slide the bar out, this marks the distance from the back of the gimble bearing to where the shaft on the outdrive bottoms out, move the O ring a 1/4” towards the stepped part of the alignment tool (this is so you won’t bottom out the alignment tool when driving the gimble bearing in) then slide the driver puck up to the O ring and use a 3/8” diameter transfer punch through the side hole in the puck to mark the bar. You need to drill a 3/8” diameter hole in the alignment bar, two V blocks, some clamps, and a drill press will make drilling much easier, after the bar is securely mounted and centered in the drill press, use a center drill, then 1/4” drill first, using plenty of oil, drill all the way through, then use the 3/8” drill, deburr both sides and you should be good to go. People complain that it doesn’t come pre-drilled, the reason is that not all out drives are the same so you have to fit it to the outdrive that you have. Fortunately, I have a machine shop at my house and have a jig setup with various drill bushings, but the method I described above should work for you. Just make sure you’re perfectly centered and secure before you start drilling.

Worked for Volvo Penta SX Gimbal Bearing
Very heavy tool, I was surprised. Pulled my bearing like it was nothing. Putting the new bearing in was a little more difficult as you have to drill a hole in the engine alignment shaft where it will work for your particular outdrive. Not hard, but it does not come pre-drilled as the required depth for each particular gimbal bearing differs by manufacturer and model. Measure your bearing placement before removal and check that it was installed correctly in the first place. The bearing should line up with the grease fitting and the o-rings on the drive shaft should end up riding in the middle of the bearing. once you have your measurement drill the hole, I used a drill press. I suppose you could use it on multiple outdrive models as long as you can drill more holes.

Great value
This kit worked perfectly on my Alpha one mercury outdrive. I saw a lot of people mention that it was a hassle to drill the hole when you better have all this alignment stuff. I threw it in use my regular drill drill guide and then the second hole was lined up. Pulling Gimble be very easy. I did have to adjust it up at an angle because my bearing was sitting in their crooked and it came out the second time I made the adjustment to the angle. I would highly recommend this.

Unfinished product - doesn't work - waste of money
in order to use this as an installation tool the directions tell you to drill a hole through the 2 inch steel rod..... either this hole should already be drilled, or this should not be advertised as an installation tool..... it will not install any bearings without extensive modification and requires the use of a drill press or a lathe. very dissatisfied that I now have to buy ANOTHER tool just to finish this job because this one doesn't do what it's described to do.... piece of junk... typical amazon garbage.... this is why I haven't used amazon in over a year... they rip you off with garbage.... I should have known better .... don't buy this junk .... Now they say 20 -30 days to get my refund .... Don't waste your time
